Our Role: Data Infrastructure for Scalable Journalism
Trellison's role is not to replace journalists, but to empower them. We provide the data infrastructure that makes investigative work more reproducible, verifiable, and extensible. By leveraging our platform, similar analyses can be conducted across all 50 states, significantly expanding the reach and impact of investigative journalism.
Data Methodology
In addition to the data sources used by Spotlight PA, we incorporated the Atlas county scoring system and relevant federal datasets. This allowed us to broaden the scope of the analysis and identify potential correlations and patterns at a national level.
Findings Comparison
Our replication analysis largely confirms the findings of Spotlight PA's investigation. Furthermore, it highlights areas where the data can be extended to identify additional risk factors and potential solutions. We also surfaced new areas for further investigation, particularly concerning resource allocation and service accessibility in underserved communities.
